The classes on Buddhist meditation include instruction on methods of sitting, breathing, walking, sleeping, yoga exercises, self-massage, theories and obstacles in meditation, and stages of meditation. Total 10 hours, 2 beginner and 1 intermediate sessions.
2-Part Beginner's Meditation Class(DDRC)
If you are interested in learning Chan meditation, DDRC welcomes you to attend our 2-part Beginner's Meditation Class. In this series of classes, you'll learn the fundamentals of sitting meditation, including proper bodily posture (while sitting on the cushion or chair), relaxation, and basic methods of concentration. In addition, you'll learn about the proper environment, equipment, timing, as well as self-massage and important concepts related to the process of meditation. Explanations about various experiences and obstacles in meditation will also be given.
Presented on two consecutive Saturdays, this two-part class presents the practice of meditation in a comprehensive manner. The teachers will have time to give personal attention to individual participants, and answer any questions you may have after the first week of meditating at home.
After taking the Beginner's Meditation Class, you'll be set to begin your daily practice at home, and well prepared to attend DDRC's group practices, including Thursday Evening Meditation, and our weekend retreats.
By attending this class, you take the first step towards creating calm and clarity in your life.
